All Fired up!
Our class is hosting a fundraiser through the supportive company Donor's Choose. This company supports classrooms in raising funds for needed instructional supplies.
"I have a kiln in the art room that is in working condition, but does not have proper kiln furniture and care products. Last year, I used clay with 5th grade students for the first time and used a fellow art teacher's kiln down the road. The kids and I both loved using clay and were so excited about the creative possibilities. It truly was a breakthrough in my curriculum."
By obtaining the needed supplies to run our own kiln, all of our grade levels will get to do clay projects and experience this diverse medium since the kiln would be 100% usable and accessible to our classroom.
My goal is to use the kiln by teaching clay centered projects on a rotation so that almost always one grade level would be using clay throughout the year. The increased production of ceramics means we could explore culturally diverse sources of inspiration and even enter these sculptures in art shows and community events- an opportunity we did not have last year due to depending on another school's kiln schedule.
We are halfway towards our funding goal. To support your little artist and his/her clay endeavors, you can donate here.
Thank you so much for your continued support and we look forward to sharing our art with you.
